Description
The Hamilton College Choir and College Hill Singers, under the direction of G. Roberts Kolb, will present a concert of Lenten music on Saturday, March 11, at 7:00 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church of Rome, 108 W. Court Street. Three days later the choir will be singing at a mass in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, the first stop in an Italian tour during which they will present concerts in Rome, Florence, Ravenna, and Venice.
The program opens with several contrasting settings of Psalm 137, “By the Waters of Babylon, there we sat down and wept.” The choir then continues with a cappella works by Carissimi, Schütz, Brahms, Verdi, Bruckner, Lauridsen, and Poulenc, before concluding with two American spirituals.
The church sanctuary entrance is handicapped accessible. The concert is free and open to the public.
