In conjunction with the national Wreaths Across America Day where wreaths are placed on veteran's graves at over 1,100 cemeteries including Arlington, wreaths will be placed at six cemeteries in the Rome area. Those cemeteries are the Rome Cemetery on Jervis Ave, the St. Mary's Cemetery on Liberty St, the St. Peter's and St. John's cemeteries on E. Dominick St, the Evergreen Cemetery in Lee and at the Westernville Cemetery. School students, scouts, with their parents are encouraged to attend one of the cemeteries to get a hands on experience at honoring our deceased veterans and their families. Brochures will be made for each cemetery that highlights some of the veterans who will be honored. This is done to give more meaning to our veterans sacrifices during their service and giving the volunteers who place the wreaths more than just a name.
