Description
Stage Lighting Workshop May 7th, 10AM - 2PM presented by Bob Frame. Workshop location Rome Community Theater, 8911 Turin Road, Rome NY. "Without Light it is Dark", an earth shattering statement, no? But this is the basis for all lighting design- the application of darkness. Whether you have 4 instruments in a library or 400 in an opera house, light must set the mood and show the audience where to look. But how and under whose direction? This workshop will talk to all theatre practitioners about the importance of light. What should a venue supply? How can a director help set the mood? Why does a Lighting designer need to know more than on/off? Why should an actor find the hotspot? Should the light be red, white or blue? What kind of toys do you really need? Bob Frame has designed lights for over 100 shows, in situations ranging from 6 lights on sticks to full professional venues, from single acoustic performers to television to dance to opera to Musical theatre. He has consulted in numerous renovation and theatre building projects during his 30 year career. Bob Frame graduated SUNY Oswego with his BA in Technical Theatre 1977. He is now Director of Theatre Operations at Cayuga where he teaches all the theatre courses and directs original works for Harlequin Productions as well as a free-lance professional Lighting Designer, director and actor. Bob served as the Technical Director for the TANYS Festival for over 20 years, is a roving and Technical adjudicator as well as a past president. He has designed lights for almost every genre of performance during his career professionally as well as in education and community theatre.
