Workshop on Directing June 4th,10am - 2pm, presented by Rodney Hudson at Grace Church, 6 Elizabeth Street, Utica NY. Rodney Hudson is an Assistant Professor, Musical Theater at Syracuse University's Department of Drama. He has been a professional actor for more than 25 years, Rodney Scott Hudson has performed in the major regional theaters in the United States, including as a company member with the famed American Repertory Theatre, Harvard University. As a soloist, singing the Broadway repertoire, he has sung with major orchestras, including the Minnesota Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony, and the Houston Symphony. Hudson is a member of the Actors' Equity Association. The director workshop will be cover the basics of auditioning people, choosing a cast, blocking a show, and giving initial direction to people. It will move into helping an actor find and develop his/her character, working with a producer, stage manager and crew. Also included will be giving appropriate notes to cast members and how to direct a play that will appropriately reflect the director's vision.
