Description
For Immediate Release Theater Workshop Series If you are interested in learning new theater skills, the Theaters Helping Theaters group is offering a series of workshops. The Theaters Helping Theaters group is a collaboration among local theaters in an effort to pool resources, share expertise, continue to learn and grow as we encourage all aspects of the art form. Whether a beginner with the urge to become involved or a seasoned veteran, working together the theater community will be enhanced and flourish. The goal is to focus on the many varied aspects of the theatrical production. This year we have scheduled a series of workshops held in the Utica-Rome area. This is the second workshop in our series. This Workshop is on Sound Design, it will be Saturday, April 15, 10am – 2pm at Players of Utica, 1108 State Street, Utica. The workshop will be presented by Joel Lord, he is an award-winning Sound Designer with more than twenty years’ experience in Community, Semi-Professional, and Professional Theatre. He has taught sound design and technology workshops at Regional Festivals, the TANYS Festival, and at the Southeastern Theatre Conference, ranging from introductory design through advanced wireless microphone troubleshooting techniques. Workshop description: Beyond The Script - There is a whole world of sound beyond the stage directions written into a script, once you know where to look for it. Using real production examples, we will examine where sound can be used to enhance a production, and by doing so bring out the real art of sound design rather than just playing a few effects. The cost for the workshop $20 Adults, High school and college students free with ID. Register online at www.RomeCommunityTheater.org or call 315-339-2545. You can send a check to THT Workshop Coordinator, 514 Mayberry Road, Rome, NY 13440. Make check payable to Rome Community Theater. For more information about upcoming workshops in this series go to the Theaters Helping Theaters Facebook page or www.RomeCommunityTheater.org .
