Description
The Rome Community Theater will open its season with the hilarious musical, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. The Tony Award winning musical by David Yazbeck and Jeffery Lane is based on the 1988 movie by the same name will be directed by Catherine Guditas. The French Riveria is the perfect setting for two con men to swindle beautiful rich women. Suave, seasoned and sophisticated Lawrence Jameson, played by Don Hayes, is at the top of his game as he sweet talks women out of their riches. Freddy Benson (Vincent Cavo) is small time crook that comes to town following the women and the money. Deciding that this town isn’t big enough for the two of them, Lawrence and Freddy set up a challenge. Enter the seemingly naive heiress, Christine Colgate played by Heather Serway. The first to scam her out of $50,000 gets to stay while the loser leaves town. A twisted journey filled with non stop laughter ensues. Mischievous, clever and sometimes outrageous, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is fast paced and will keep you guessing until the end. In addition to Hayes, Cavo and Serway, Linda Potts plays the wealthy socialite, Muriel Eubanks. Andre, Lawrence’s debonair assistant, is portrayed by Chuck Bastien. Valerie Abel embodies the character of Jolene Oakes, an energetic southern firecracker. The active and engaging ensemble, playing multiple roles include John Parker, Emma Rogowski, Jane Sylvester, Rachel Bastien and Sam Abdelhak. The delightfully jazzy tunes will have you humming between the laughter. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels will be playing at Rome Community Theater on Turin Road for two weekends.
