The musicians of the Rome Concert Band are partnering with Rome Art and Community Center to present two new music events this summer. Alliance Classical Octet, comprised of RCB musicians, along with Rome pianist Gregory Unangst will be featured in this new concert series. The concerts will consist of chamber music, presented in the Living Room. The second concert will be held August 19th, beginning at 7:00 PM. The program will feature Irish Suite for Clarinet and Bass Marimba by Bill Douglas; a selection for two oboes and piano; and the Partita for Wind Octet Op. 69 by Franz Krommer. Tickets: $10 Individual $8 RACC Members Refreshments will be served. According to members of the Alliance Octet, the Center is “the perfect venue for chamber music, as it affords a performance space that is intimate, yet comfortable for both listener and musician. Chamber music is a form of classical music that is composed for a small group of instruments—traditionally a group that could fit in a palace chamber or a large room of a house.” In recent years, there has been a resurgence of chamber music being performed at ‘house concerts,’ and how fitting is it for such a well known Rome house to present this series. “Chamber music is often described as ‘the music of friends,’” according to founding member Colleen O’Neil, “and in fact, it is from that description that Alliance Octet chose its name.” Call the Center, 315-336-1040, for tickets.
