One Act Plays An Evening of One Acts will be presented at RCT, 8911 Turin Road in Rome on October 22 and October 23 , Dug Bartell will be directing three David Ives plays; ” Words,Words,Words”, “ Sure Thing” and “The Philadelphia”. “Words,Words,Words” recalls the philosophical adage that three monkeys typing into infinity will sooner or later produce Hamlet and asks; What would monkeys talk about at their typewriters “Sure Thing” Two people meet in a café and find their way through a conversational minefield as an offstage bell interrupts their false starts, gaffes and faux pas on the way to falling in love “The Philadelphia” presents a young man in a restaurant who has fallen into a “Philadelphia”. A Twilight Zone like state in which he cannot get anything he asks for. Eric Amleaf will be directing “Tender Offers”. “Tender Offers” written by Wendy Wasserstein The play focuses on a distant father and his nine-year-old daughter. When he arrives late to pick her up from dance class, they discuss their lack of communication and why he missed her dance recital. Arnold Galin will be directing “I’m Herbert”. “I’m Herbert is about two old, old people sitting on a porch in a pair of rocking chairs and talking. Just talking and of course they don’t know how funny they are. Each has had one or more previous marriages and perhaps a few flings, but they are hazy as to details. In fact, they don’t always know which one the other one is. Tickets are on sell at the Rome Community Theater box office on the day of the performance. General admission is $10.00. Curtain Oct 22 at 7:30 pm and Oct 23 at 2:30 pm
