Rome has three exits on the New York State Thruway (I-90). Other major highways serving the region are New York State Routes 5, 8, 12, 20, 26, 46, 49, 69, 365, and 825; Interstate Routes 81 and 87 provide access north and south with connections via Syracuse and Albany respectively, a short distance away.

Public Transportation:

AIR

Passenger and freight service is available at Hancock International Airport in Syracuse, 45 minutes west from downtown Rome, and at Albany International Airport, 90 minutes to the east. Griffiss Airfield in Rome is maintained and available at Griffiss Business and Technology Park (a former Air Force Base), and features a heavy-duty airstrip that is one of the longest runways east of the Mississippi.

RAIL

AMTRAK provides passenger rail service from Rome to:

Boston, MA; Buffalo/Niagara Falls, NY; Chicago, IL; New York City, NY; Toronto, Canada

CSX and New York Susquehanna & Western (NYS&W) provide freight service.
